To love would be an awfully big adventure.

About the Consortium

The Mad Hatter's Tea Consortium is a group of dreamers and architects, schemers and plotters, and above all those not afraid to answer all claims of "You can not," or "That's impossible." with a wink, a nudge and a "...yet." It is a fellowship of dark intelligentsia -- like-minded individuals who take pleasure and delight in the darker aspects of Victorian literature. With a dash of Carroll and a twist of Baum in a soup stock of post-modern Victorian aestheticism, served alongside a brew of Lovecraft and Poe in a coil-cooled copper goblet; we present a taste of a time where anything could be, and we weren't sure whether to hope or fear that it would.

At its simplest, the Consortium is a social group, gathering together for the simple joy of exploring the drama and energy achieved in surrounding oneself with others who share an appreciation for the finer things in life -- while at the same time, allowing for the darker, edgier side of one's psyche to bubble dangerously to the surface. Consider it to be a bit of Tim Burton meets Dark Carnival meets mad scientist/steampunk... mixed up with classical victorian literature.

From our headquarters in the Aetherium, we will formulate and put into action our many and varied works. With events ranging from simple fund-raisers, enlightenment tables, theatrical performances, all the way to grand galas for fun and charity, we seek to spread the general air of surrealism and merriment in our new home.

Primarily, The Consortium calls home the Campus of Evergreen State College, located in beautiful Olympia, Washington. There are, however, residents of the Aetherium scattered all across the United States, so participation is not limited to the College.

So turn up the amber gas-lights, darken the velvet shadows, and let us lead you across the landscape of dreams and through the caverns of nightmares.
